Take Away Hunger
Take Away Hunger is a food packing service project that Christ The King does every year in November! The event happens in the Narthex in between services and involves all ages! We generally will assemble over 7000 meals in one hour. The funds that we use for the supplies is raised by donations from our congregation. Last year's food that we packed was shipped to Haiti!
Iowa City CROP Hunger Walk
CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by religious groups, businesses, schools and others to raise funds to end hunger in the U.S. and around the world.
School Kits for LWR
Each year in August & September Christ The King gathers school supplies in the Narthex that are assembled into school kits that are distributed throughout the world by Lutheran World Relief to children in need.
Mission Quilts for LWR
Quilts are made and sent to Lutheran World Relief for distribution throughout the world for those in need. The ultimate purpose of a Quilt is to provide warmth, an essential need for people in every climate. In addition to being a cozy, clean new bed cover, a quilt can be a baby carrier tied around a mother’s back, a market display spread on the ground and piled with vegetables, a sack for transporting goods to market, a sunshade, a shawl, and most importantly a constant reminder that someone far away cares a lot.
Personal Care Kits for LWR
Personal Care Kits are shared with people who have lost everything from a natural disaster or life-threatening violence. Give hope through a bar of soap.
