CHURCH STAFF

Pastor Connie Spitzack
Senior Pastor

“I see myself as a steward of the mysteries of God, which means I get to take care of something that belongs to someone else. This is God’s church. My role is to walk with this community of God’s children, trying our best to live in faithful relationship with God and each other. It is easy to say, but much more difficult to actually live out in daily life—to really trust God and what we know about God through Jesus and to have a good ear for the Holy Spirit.”

Pastor Connie has served at Christ the King since 2012. She holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Chicago. She is married to Mark Youngquist, who also serves as a pastor, and they have two children, Nathanael and Lydia.

Kevin Edens
Director of Music Ministry

“My academic studies of music, specifically of the pipe organ, have confirmed my calling to serve God through the music ministries of the Church. Like many of my colleagues, my involvement with church music began at an early age. Though my job is largely centered on the Church in worship, I do my best work when I am grounded in and supported by the other ministries of the church: mission, discipleship, evangelism, among others.”

Kevin began working at Christ the King in November 2018. He has a Bachelor of Music degree in Organ Performance from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and will complete the Master of Arts degree in Organ Performance from the University of Iowa in Spring 2019.  He has been playing the organ in weekly church worship since age eight.

Colleen Jacobson
Church Secretary

“As church secretary of Christ the King, I offer a helping hand and a welcoming environment. I maintain the church office, running bulletins and newsletters and assisting wherever needed with the congregation members, the council, and the many committees.”

Colleen began working at Christ the King in 2012. She and her husband Bill have two daughters.

Stephen Peterson
Sexton

“My work is a ministry in keeping the church a pleasant environment for people to worship or gather for any other activity.”

Serving as sexton since 2009, Stephen is responsible for cleaning the church building and helping with maintenance projects, such as plumbing and occasional outdoor work.
